The only way an adult can help a child is to provide him or her with a good example (deeds would do a better job than words of course), plenty of information and heeps of love. After that the only thing left is not to spoil anything. There is something very precious about any child, this willing to explore, this creative power of inquisitiveness, that is so easy to destroy, and that so few adult truly possess. If you spoil this fragile ability you kill the newly born personality, and all thats left is a robot repeating the psychological features of the parents.
Any psychological pressure through too much control or enforcing certain values, through leaving too little freedom - brings an irrevocable damage to a childs mind, and any parent who fails to recognize it fails also as a parent as a result. That is the truth.
After all, I would not want my mom to say "Im sorry" or even to regret what she has done. It would be enough if she could just admit that what she did is so important to me.
